SEPTEMBER 2023

For several years Italian Tech Week has been the leading tech conference in Italy. This year’s edition featured three days of celebration of all things tech, where industry leaders, entrepreneurs, investors and innovators converged to exchange ideas, forge partnerships, and propel Italy's tech landscape forward.
Italian Tech Week shines a bright spotlight on Italy's dynamic startup scene. As startups continue to emerge as key drivers of innovation, this event provides them with a global platform to present their ideas and products.
On the 29th of September UTwin’s CEO & Founder, Roberto Demarchi, was among the protagonists of the Smart City Panel, together with Eleonora Santoro, Head of Innovation & ESG at Rekeep and Luca Gastaldi, Associate Professor at Politecnico di Milano’s School of Management. The panel was moderated by Rudy Bandiera.
The discussion focused around the role of startups, research institutions, corporate and public entities and their respective contributions to Smart Cities. While this sector is still relatively small in Italy compared to the rest of Europe, it’s growing rapidly, with an annual CAGR of 23%, and it is currently valued at almost 1B €.
New public programmes and initiatives, funded by NRRP (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), are boosting this sector together with initiatives from companies and private entities, which are increasingly investing in innovation and digitalisation of their operations.
By collaborating with private, public and research entities, as well as many other startups, UTwin positions itself as the link to offer cooperation and innovation in order to build the digital cities of the future.
